Rest & Reciprocity
A Retreat for Those Who Tend
What to Expect
During this fall weekend in Appalachian Ohio, the land will be our primary teacher as we explore the natural world, build community, and shift our perspectives on our work and life.
We’ll draw on The Work That Reconnects (developed by Joanna Macy), a framework that invites us to take part in the healing of our world.
You’ll leave feeling refreshed and ready to sustain the work and life you love.
❋ Fill your own cup first if you…
are a creative, a healer, a leader…
spend your days creating space for others to grow and thrive…
are constantly giving…
❋ Let us give back to you.
Here’s the truth: your community needs you rested, renewed, and remembering your own magic. You need connection, too: to yourself, other leaders, the natural world.
we’ve got you.
Where We’ll Be
We’re thrilled to partner with Hope Springs Institute, which offers its land, sacred spaces, and accommodations to those who share the vision of a more peaceful, equitable, and inclusive world.
The facilities offer cozy spaces for rest; a studio for large group activities; a spirit house with an indoor fire pit for ceremony and meditation; and a commercial kitchen and dining area that serve delicious meals. You will have access to 130 acres of protected forest, prairie, and small bodies of water.

Our Core Practices
-
Developed by Joanna Macy, this powerful framework helps us move through the spiral of gratitude, honoring our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes, and going forth. Perfect for those who lead change and carry the weight of our world's challenges, whether you're steering an organization, coordinating a campaign, teaching young people, or facilitating community transformation.
-
Ancient practice of solo wandering with intention, allowing the land to speak to us and offer guidance. A chance to step away from decision-making, teaching, and coordinating, to let nature tend to you and offer wisdom beyond words.
-
Guided journaling and creative writing to process, explore, and articulate what you need to. Whether you're a seasoned writer or rarely put pen to page, this practice offers space to reflect on your leadership, struggles, vision, and truth. No experience necessary, only a willingness take a deep breath, dive in, and meet yourself on the page.
-
Visual art-making is a way to access intuition and express what words cannot. For those who work primarily with words, data, and logic, collage offers a different pathway to insight. We use images, colors, and composition to make meaning and discover new perspectives, and articulate something new.
